Students will learn what is appropriate for their age and class level by placing emphasis on 2 important factors.
- Correct Vocabulary Ballet vocabulary is introduced gradually allowing time for the body to build strength and grow into the technical demands of the ballet technique. When students know the meaning of a step being introduced they will understand better how to execute the step.
- Body Placement The most important element to proper ballet training. All exercises should be done slowly so the feet and knees are stretched and the legs and body are held correctly.
All the tools you need to developpe strong, confident dancers. - it's easy!
Each Syllabus level is designed according to the age and technical ability of the student. Level of difficulty increases as the students progress through the syllabus. Each level can be used individually per class but all the levels have been designed to work together as "building blocks" to effectively give all the students the correct terminology and combinations to progress to the next level. Creative Movement through Ballet 3 courses include barre, center and stretching exercises. The intermediate syllabus is just a reference and will give teachers an outline of what students at this level should be able to demonstrate. The syllabus is designed on a month by month basis according to a studio season (September - May) but this can be easily adapted to fit the individual needs of your studio.
Ages for class levels are estimated, each students level placement may vary according to technical ability. Advancement and level placement of all students is a function of the instructors and is left to their experienced judgment

Curriculum
This ballet syllabus will provide a Strong Foundation for other forms of dance ,tap and jazz. All dance forms have ballet technique at their base. Students who acquire a ballet base will progress more rapidly in other dance forms.Creative Movement - places emphasis on music and creative movement activities carefully designed to benefit every child. Creative Movement is a wonderful first dance experience for ages 3-4. This class is designed to introduce children to classroom structure, musical interpretation, characterization, creative dance as well as some ballet vocabulary. The highlight is on self-discovered movement in a non-judgmental environment. Throughout the year, different movement concepts including; level, tempo, energy, shapes, place, and direction are introduced while improving listening skills, motor skills, non-locomotion skills and learning ballet vocabulary.
Pre Ballet - is designed as a learning transition linking Creative Movement and formal ballet training. The class is structured so that the children are exposed to a variety of rhythmical, coordination and musical exercises along with basic ballet skills, appropriate for their age. The 1 hour class incorporates gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as developing balance, posture, discipline, and self confidence. Throughout the year, different movement concepts including level, tempo, energy, shapes, place, and direction are introduced while improving motor skills and increasing students ballet vocabulary.
Ballet 1-3 - In these levels dancers will have a good understanding of classroom etiquette and structure. They will have acquired a basic knowledge of rhythmical, musical, technical skills and vocabulary from which to build and expand. Throughout the students' training, in these levels, ballet vocabulary is introduced gradually allowing time for the body to build strength and grow into the technical demands of the ballet technique. While mastering new steps students gain more control and learn how to make clean shapes and lines in their body positions. Previously learned steps are combined in more complicated and challenging ways. It is not uncommon for students to repeat the same level in order to develop strength and coordination in their ballet technique. Proper development of the ballet technique is important in these levels because they are developing the strength in their feet, legs, and abdominal muscles which is required for pointe work. When they are ready Ballet 3 students will start to learn basic pointe technique. Proper development is also very important to help prevent injuries.
Intermediate - Dancers will know classroom etiquette and structure. At the conclusion of these levels, dancers will have an expansive ballet vocabulary and be capable of executing most steps. Throughout the students' training in these levels, they will continue to improve their ballet technique with repetition and attention to detail as well as strengthening and stretching exercises. They are able to maintain their strength and coordination with the addition of complicated and challenging combinations of steps.

I have been looking for a curriculum that will allow me to help myself and my other teachers to all teach the same type of curriculum. We all have our own style but this syllabus helps to make sure we all teach the correct steps appropriate for the class level. As Student advance to the next level I know that they have been taught the correct technique to continue.

P.S. The success of any type of education depends upon the
cooperation between teacher and student. Regardless of the students desire, be
it poise, health, enjoyment, or the pursuit of a career, only a steady
training program will bring the proper results. With the proper training and
strong curriculum, these students will form a love for the art of dance that
will be remembered throughout their lives.
